Skin Aging Condition

Generally, people are concerned about appearance and are influenced by society, culture, and personal values. Aesthetic ideals of beauty vary, yet the appearance of youthfulness remains a constant benchmark. More often people go to Aesthetic clinics for looking better and to stop or at least slow the aging sign.

During adult life, dermal collagen content progressively decreases, correlating with a reduction in skin thickness. A simultaneous decrease in the amount of proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid is also seen.

Elsewhere, hormonal changes occurring during adolescence and then aging account for the respective increases in sebum secretion seen in puberty, then its progressive decrease during adult life, declining considerably in postmenopausal woman. With aging, a decrease in the rate of corneocyte desquamation is also seen.

  • Photoaging Extrinsic

Photoaging Extrinsic - plays an important role in the degree to which youthfulness is retained despite advancing age .Sun-induced cutaneous changes vary considerably among individuals, undoubtedly reflecting inherent differences in vulnerability and repair capacity for the solar insult.

Darker skin is more photoprotected than fair skin because of the increased melanin content. Thus, individuals with higher Fitzpatrick skin types are inherently more protected because they generally experience the effects of photoaging 10–20 years later and with less severity.

Photoaging can manifest as

  • Rhytids
  • Lentigines
  • Telangiectasias
  • Mottled Pigmentation
  • Coarse Texture
  • Sallow Color
  • Laxity, And
  • Decreased Elasticity And Turgor
  • Accentuated Ridging
  • Leathery Appearance
  • Severe Atrophy
  • Open Comedones
  • Milia
  • Loss Of Translucency
  • Cobblestone Effect From Elastosis
  • Actinic Purpura, And Epidermal
  • Dermal Thickening
  • Deep Furrows

Chronologic Aging – Intrinsic

Chronologic aging –Intrinsic -is dominated by fine lines and increased skin laxity. The latter is primarily due to: soft tissue volume loss from fat atrophy, gravity-induced soft tissue redistribution, and reduction of facial skeletal support related to bone resorption.
