How long does Scalp Micropigmentation last?
Scalp micropigmentation is a semi-permanent treatment. Most patients require an initial three sessions, followed by a 30-day retouch, to ensure the final result has met the patient’s expectations. As the pigment fades slowly over time, we recommend regular retouch sessions every 12 months.

When is Scalp Micropigmentation
recommended?
- The patient prefers a shaved head or closely cut style, and wishes to fill out areas of hair loss.
- Hair is thinning but the hairline is still defined, and SMP can create an appearance of hair density.
- Scars are visible through the hair, and can be disguised with SMP.

Platelet-rich Plasma Treatment
Platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP) is a series of injections that uses the patient’s own blood cells to prevent hair loss and promote new hair growth. PRP has been used successfully for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, and was first used by clinicians to accelerate healing after surgical procedures.
The patient’s blood sample is placed in a centrifuge and spun for 15 minutes. This causes the blood to separate, leaving a concentrated plasma which is rich in platelets. These platelets encourage growth and promote healing in dormant living follicles, reactivating natural hair growth. -
When is PRP recommended?
A patient is in the earlier stages of hair loss, and hair is thinning.
A patient is vulnerable to allergic reactions. As PRP uses the patient’s own blood, the treatment could be considered more ‘natural’ than other treatments. -
Low-Level Laser Therapy
Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is a preventative hair loss treatment which can stabilise hair loss and improve the quality and condition of existing hair.
LLLT has been proven by clinical studies and meta-analyses to reduce inflammation and accelerate connective tissue repair. As well as hair loss, LLLT is used successfully as a treatment for musculoskeletal damage in physiotherapy. -
How does LLLT work?
LLLT or cold laser therapy, as it’s also known, uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cell growth and reproduction. Treatments last 30 minutes, during which time the patient will experience very little sensation at all. The treatment is completely safe, and results can generally be seen after six months of regular treatment
-
When is LLLT recommended?
- LLLT is recommended when a patient is in the earlier stages of hair loss, and hair is thinning.
- After an initial period of intensive treatment, less frequent top-up treatments will be required to maintain your results.
